This specific version of the vehicle was carefully sought after and selected for a conversion project, which, unfortunately, had to be put on hold.
Cargo compartment dimensions: length 4.7m, width 1.78m, height 1.94m. Gross weight: 3500 kg.
The van was originally manufactured in Germany for the German market, imported to Latvia in 2020, and since then has been used almost exclusively for long-distance trips between LV and DE, transporting furniture. I have owned it since March 2024, and have personally driven only ~1500 km, as the van was primarily being prepared for conversion rather than used for transportation.
Equipment:
- Electric mirrors
- Electric windows
- Central locking
- Parking sensors front and rear
- Remote control with immobilizer
- Pneumatic driver’s seat with armrest
- Cruise control
- On-board computer
- Bluetooth (including audio streaming from phone, e.g., Spotify)
- Climate control
- Adjustable steering wheel height
- Tow hitch
- Rear step (OEM)
- And more
Major maintenance was performed ~300 km ago (receipts available for parts and service costs, totaling nearly €1000):
- Engine oil + filter
- Air filter
- Cabin filter
- Fuel filter
- Windshield wipers
- SKF timing belt and water pump kit
- Auxiliary belt kit
- Brake fluid
- Power steering fluid
- Coolant
- Differential oil
- Transmission oil
- Glow plugs
- Crankshaft seal
In summer of 2024, a new windshield was installed, a new spare key was made (there are 2 keys in total), a new perimeter seal for the rear doors was added, and new rear door side magnets were installed in the walls. Tire condition – normal.
Preparing for the initial phases of the conversion, which included insulation and full paneling of the van, the entire interior was "de-rusted" by sanding down rust to bare metal, treating it with rust converter, priming with epoxy primer, and then painting with 2K paint. This treatment was applied to the cabin floor, seat bases, the lower parts of the doors on the cabin side where the paint had worn off, and the sills under the trim.
A similar restoration was done in the cargo area, touching up all other areas where the paint had worn off – the floor was completely repainted after welding up extra holes used for fixing the previous floor board, and all visible door sections, adjacent pillars, and sills under the trim were repainted.
One of the wheel arches had rusted through, so it was cut out and re-welded new.
Body adhesive seams and panels were also re-bonded in places where the adhesive had separated.
There are extensive photos documenting the entire process.
In the next phase of the conversion, the plan was to repaint almost the entire van from the outside.
Currently, according to coating thickness measurements, the van still has its original factory paint almost everywhere, except for the left rear corner, where some local repairs have been done (indicated by coating thickness).
Despite this, the van has relatively little body rust, especially compared to unpainted vehicles of the same age that have been used in Latvia.
The underside of the van also has relatively little rust for a van of this age. In the worst spots where the paint had already peeled, rust was treated with a converter and locally repainted as a temporary measure to prevent further rust progression.
Current actual mileage: 519, 000 km. For those who genuinely believe most listings where similar-aged vans have mileage under ~400, 000 km, I suggest careful consideration and a look at the mileage of newer vans to draw conclusions. Knowing that these vans, when properly maintained, easily run 1, 000, 000 km or more, the mileage was not a concern for me when purchasing – what mattered was the actual condition. It’s also essential to consider whether the mileage was accumulated through many hours of slow, stop-and-go city driving, or on highways and autobahns (which is the case for this van).
Defects – of course, there are some. The most notable: various body dents, localized rust spots (nothing requiring welding), the typical torn side bolster of the driver’s seat and various other small bits.
This van is an excellent candidate for a "budget" camper conversion or similar project. If you are planning a conversion, I can provide consultation on solutions. For an additional fee, I can offer a rearview camera and other conversion-related components, such as a water tank for under-van mounting, autonomous electrical system components, etc. If needed, I can also provide the original plywood wall and door panels, as well as the cargo tie-down loops for the floor.
The van is available for viewing almost anytime in Latvia, Riga, by prior arrangement. If you have any questions, call or message me on WhatsApp. Additional photos available upon request.
